I have supported more than ten ceremonies and photo weddings involving 2D fictional characters so far.
While these ceremonies are not legally binding, they are carefully designed as original wedding-style celebrations that respect each individual’s feelings and values.Recently, I have been receiving more inquiries from overseas than from within Japan.
For those who cannot travel to Japan, we also offer remote ceremonies, allowing couples to participate from their home countries while the ceremony itself is held in Japan.Through this work, I hope to show that weddings can take many forms, and that love and commitment can be expressed in ways that go beyond conventional boundaries.
② About 2D Character Wedding Ceremonies in Japan
I am a wedding planner based in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, and I have supported over ten wedding ceremonies and photo weddings centered around 2D fictional characters from anime and manga.
These ceremonies are not legal marriages. Instead, they are original, symbolic wedding-style celebrations inspired by 2D culture and created to honor personal feelings, devotion, and storytelling.
Most ceremonies are held in Japan, primarily in Gunma Prefecture. In addition to churches, we work with partner venues such as cultural facilities, shrines, temples, and even World Heritage sites like the Tomioka Silk Mill.
In recent years, interest from overseas has increased significantly. For clients who are unable to travel to Japan, we offer remote wedding ceremonies. In these cases, the ceremony is conducted in Japan, while the couple participates online from their home country or personal location. In November, we successfully held a remote ceremony for a client in Germany.
Interpretation services can be arranged when necessary. While email communication is primarily handled using AI translation tools, correspondence in English is fully supported.
Although the ceremonies focus on 2D characters, they are planned and conducted by professional wedding staff who also work regularly with traditional weddings between couples.
My goal is to provide a respectful and carefully organized space where people from around the world can celebrate their feelings in a form that feels meaningful to them.
